Fencing

  • 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM – Fencing inspections, pickups, and tournament registration begin at the Big Black & White Pavilion in the center of the Big Fighting Field
  • 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM – Fencing Tournament: “Bollocks Again: Will it be Mothman Once More!?!"
  • Tournament format and duration depend on the number of participants and the weather.
Saturday – April 25 Martial Activities • A&S • Court

Heavy Combat

  • 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Field opens for inspections
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Noon Gage Challenge
  • 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM – Melee Activities
  • 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM – First Scenario: Field battles, 5 with breaks in between
  • 1:00 PM – 1:15 PM – Break for field setup and discussion
  • 1:15 PM – 1:45 PM (estimated) – Second Scenario: Bridges 3, 10-minute resurrection, with reset time between rounds; holds will be used as needed for discussion and clearing the field
  • 1:45 PM – 2:00 PM – Break for discussion and reset
  • 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM (estimated) – Allied Champs-style Capture the Flag, 30 minutes or first to 5 points
  • 2:30 PM – 2:45 PM – Break for discussion and setup
  • 2:45 PM (estimated) – Combat Archery Scenario
  • This final scenario is primarily intended to help train combat archers to work with combat units for more effective coordination, deployment, and usage.

  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Field Drills with Don Ichijo Honen
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Youth Fencing: Child’s Play – youth fencing play, practice, and Bear Cub-pit Tournament (depending on number of participants)
  • 4:00 PM – Fencing Field closes
  • Cryptid Hunt Melee: Each participant receives one bookmark denoting a cryptid as they take the field. With each bout, the winner takes the bookmark from their opponent. “Dead” participants can resurrect with the marshals for another bookmark. Free for all, or form teams. The individual who collects the most bookmarks from their opponents they “slay or capture” will be declared the Monarch of Cryptids.
  • Toss a Coin to your Fencer, Part Deux: Format and duration depend on the number of participants.
  • Special note: The winner of this tourney will receive a coin token entry for the Invitational Tournament of Garnet & Steel to be held in 2027.
  • Prep with Don Ichijo for field battle scenarios to help prepare for War Practice and Pennsic.
  • Calling all youth fencers, youth marshals, and anyone interested in youth fencing: meet at the Big Black & White Pavilion in the center of the field at 3:00 PM for an opportunity to assist the youth of Æthelmearc in youth fencing activities.
